Kate Slinchenkova made a significant contribution to the restoration of our shelter building. She is a Cornell graduate and the founder of the Dnipro Fund @kate_slinchenkova.

She learned about us from her mother, who was in the same class as the aunt of our leader, Talina Zharikova.

The main fundraising events were held by the group Scholars For Ukraine. This is a university group of students, but let’s start from the beginning…

It was March-April, and Katerina was actively attending protests. There, she shared our story, the story of our shelter and the people who were forced to leave their homes and seek refuge in other cities in our country. At these protests, people approached and asked how they could help, what was needed for this. This is how the conscientious work of a young girl for the benefit of people in need began…

Katerina translated donations, made photo reports on the website, which she created specifically for this purpose.

At the protests, a group of several people learned about Katerina and her work and offered to help. These were the same people who work at Scholars For Ukraine, which is present in several universities across the United States.
